Review - Texas Gothic by Rosemary Clement Moore

I'm not going to lie.  I read this book because I was told it featured a hot cowboy.  I even read the synopsis and didn't really feel all that compelled to read the book, but still, HOT COWBOY.  How do you say no to that? SRSLY?!

So, Amy and her sister Phin are staying at the Goodnight ranch when this big old construction team are building this bridge on the neighbouring families (McCullochs) property and they uncover like real old skeletons.  So, of course Amy and Phin want to investigate, I mean, who wouldn't? And well, because this is a book and this is generally how shizz goes down, they find themselves right in the middle of a bunch of college students on an anthropological study and a ghost story.  I may as well tell you here that Amy and Phin are witches.  Obvs.

And what do you know! The neighbours son Ben is HOT and he's a COWBOY.  And hot damn let me tell you the sexual tension sizzles right off the page.  It's that kind of crazy lust that you blame on the heat, where you dso all these random stupid things and you're like it's because it#s so damn hot.  Because at times (read ALL the time) I wanted Ben to rip his shirt right off and then other times I wanted him to take off his shirt and then for Amy to punch him in the face.  He has that whole cocky thing going on which means it's not a case of instalove, because Amy my girl, isn't stupid and is like hell no douche face, you want the goodies y'all got to be good.

Plus, I loved the whole small town atmosphere all steeped in supersition and old folk lore and all that business.  Being a city girl through and through, I lurve lurve luuuuuuurve stories set in small towns because they are all so crazy and instense and have all these little rivalries and crazy families.  I LOVE IT.  And also, Clement Moore did a good job with the relationship between Amy and Phin, because as good and juicy as sibling rivalry is, it's nice to see two sisters getting along and being nice to each other.

Also, there is a hot cowboy.  The end.

  4. Haha, the hot cowboy is why I added this one to my TBR too! Glad I'm not the only one with that reasoning.
