You guys probably already know this by now because I have gone on and on and on and ooooonnnnnnnnnnnnn about this ever since i read Raw Blue and was like HOLY SHIZZNICKS this books is amazing, Aussie authors are fabulous, I MUST DO A WHOLE MONTH ON HOW GRAND THEY ARE. So, Aussie YA Month starts on 1 November and will continue throughout the whole month,
It's going to go down like this......lots of reviews of Aussie books that I have been devouring this past month (and the reason for the partial Twitter silence, they are damn good books you guys!). Lots of author involvement by the way of guest posts or interviews! Aussie bloggers are also on board to dish on ALL THIS AWESOME STUFF. I also have a few guest post from some of my favourite people on why they love Aussie YA so much.
But the thing is, I want this to be not just a fun month for me, I want this to be a fun month for YOU! So, please please PLEASE let me know in the comments or on Twitter, or if you are lucky enough to have my phone number, BY TEXT, what you would like to get from Aussie YA Month. It could be a giveaway of a book you really want that I could possibly PROVIDE. It could be an author that you love that you want to see featured. It could be that YOU want to be involved too, and YAY THAT WOULD BE AMAZING. I want this to be a fun thing guys, so if you want to join in by giving me a guest post, or you want to talk about Aussie books on your own blog, or review an Aussie blog! Then tell me and i'll make sure that I talk about it here, and give link love and such. I could even make this more interactive and do the mr linky for people to post links to their own reviews of books that I feature. Does this sound like something you guys want to do?
THEN TELL ME! YOUR WISH IS MY COMMAND. I want this to be a month for us all. srsly, I really do believe that sharing the wealth is the best thing ever! so hit me up.
As always, credit to my lovely and fab friend Ginger @ GReads for the amazing banner!

Ooh, cool! I did something like this a while ago with a bunch of other Aussie bloggers (http://aussieaugust.blogspot.com/), but this'll be really interesting from a kind of outsider's perspective!
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you'd like another guest poster -- there are so many great Aussie YAs that I'd love to recommend! (handley(dot)skye(at)gmail(dot)com)
Sounds awesome! I love Aussie YA too (but I am /waaaay/ too lazy to do something like this) - it's such a shame that hardly any of it ever gets into the YA market.
ReplyDeleteIm so excited about this :D
ReplyDeleteGiveaways are always good lol but if you did have copies of some Aussie books and were up for it - I think organizing a UK Aussie Book Tour of them would be awesome. If you had a YA blog and wanted to sign up for certain books, they would be sent out to people on rotation (maybe the same way as http://uk-book-tours.blogspot.com/ do their tours) on the condition that you have to review them on your blog and pass them along to the next person on the tour. That way you get several blogs participating with a review or several and spread the word about these books a bit more :D
That could be a lot of fun (although a bit of work on your part). As to getting copies of Aussie YA books - it would depend if you were willing to send any around that you had, or maybe some sort of contribution from bloggers who wanted to participate, or maybe getting authors themselves to donate a copy of their book?
Anyway - that was a long comment lol but either way - it's going to be fun! And just having some sort of linky post where other people can link up reviews of their own fav Aussie YAs to recommend would be great.

ReplyDeleteThat is all :)
(Great idea btw!)
I'll definitely be reading a few Aussie books. Right now, I 'm reading Tomorrow When The War Began.
ReplyDeleteAhhh I'm so excited for Aussie YA Month :D
I'm super excited for this because I feel like I don't know much about Aussie YA... other than Melina Marchetta - who is FABULOUS!!! Plus I totally trust your judgment in books.. so I am expecting my TBR pile to grow immensely!
ReplyDeleteBILL CONDON BILL CONDON BILL CONDON. (And not the director of Breaking Dawn, either.)
ReplyDeleteAnything involving that man would be WONDERFUL.
Hi my friends.hope you will visit my blog enjoy the information. http://tourismopportunity.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteI'm also in lurve big time with Aussie YA and have a few on my shelf still to read. I'm more than happy to join in and post some Aussie reviews and stuff on my blog and we can link up.
ReplyDeleteThe previous idea about organising a UK Aussie book tour is something I've been thinking about doing, I've loaned out my copy of Raw Blue to some UK pals via Goodreads and I'm more than happy to help with that to get the word out about the awesomeness of Aussie YA as most of the books are difficult to get in the UK.
So count me in on anything you are doing Carla.
Yaaaay! I will be checking back every day!
